Living Our Faith

Picture

Food Pantry

On the third Saturday of every month, we open our doors at 10 am to give out bags of groceries to our neighbors. We serve breakfast each month to those who come for groceries. In the colder months, this tends to be a hot breakfast. Around the holidays, we also give out chickens, turkeys, and hams along with groceries.

Women's Group

The St. Andrew’s Women’s Group meets every second Saturday of the month at 9am to study the women of the bible, make cards for elderly or shut-in members of the congregation and for fun conversation.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:30pm. We invite everyone interested in joining us at our next meeting. Can’t knit or crochet? PLEASE join us; we can help you get started.
Meriden Soup Kitchen
St. Andrew’s has participated on alternate Thursdays since 1983 in the Meriden Soup Kitchen, which is staffed on other days by other churches. Meals are currently served at the First Baptist Church. More than 41,000 hot meals were served last year to members of the community. Our dedicated crew begins around 7:30 AM, collecting food from local donors. The crew cooks and does other preparation before doors open at 11 AM. An hour and a half later, meals have been served, and pots and pans cleaned and put away: a bit of God’s ministry accomplished. This year we also cooked a special Christmas Eve meal!

The Daffodil Festival

Each year at the Daffodil Festival a team of parishioners works very hard at our food booth. We sell healthy wraps and salad options - and we're famous for our "daffy dillys" - flavored dill pickles!

In 2016, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our building, we also had a float in the parade!

It's a lot of work, but we have a lot of fun working hard together and being out in the community.
